Beckford is a primary school in Camden, Central London. Kenyon has worked with the Camden Local Authority for over twenty years and this project well represents the many similar restoration projects undertaken for this client.

The external facade of the building received extensive restoration, including masonry and joinery repair and decorations. Brickwork was replaced where required and, in other areas, sensitively restored. New classrooms were created internally. To facilitate access to the new rooms, additional staircases and a new mezzanine floor were installed.

One of the biggest challenges of the project was working within a live teaching environment. Site access and all work operations were isolated from the rest of the school building. As a further security precaution, Kenyon ensured that all staff, suppliers and visitors were fully CRB checked before being allowed on site.
